Ubisoft launches Uplay+ subscription service

The French publisher, hit franchise maker including Assassin’s Creed and Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six, announced Uplay+, an all-you-can-play gaming subscription service that revolves around upcoming games as well as catalog titles. Taking on Microsoft’s Xbox Game Pass, Sony’s PlayStation Plus, Google Stadia, Apple Arcade, and EA Access, the French video game giant is the latest to offer a monthly subscription.

The service, costing $14.99 a month, will provide players with access to over 100 games, including upcoming releases like Rainbow Six Quarantine, Watch Dogs: Legion, Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint, and Gods & Monsters. It’s planned on be launched on 3rd September 2019.

Ubisoft is not the only publisher offering a subscription package. Since 2014, Electronic Arts has provided EA Access and introduced it to console gamers through the PlayStation 4 previously this year. Microsoft and Sony also offer old (and increasingly new) games catalogs that can be played at a flat monthly fee.

The Vice president of Platform and Product Management, Brenda Panagrossi said that the industry of video games is constantly changing and the demands of the players are changing. She said that her team is committed to providing the finest experience to their players and the chance to explore the different worlds they have developed for them. With Uplay+, the players will have more liberty.

Panagrossi said that from September 3 to September 30 Ubisoft would offer early subscribers free access to the program. She said the fresh business model will make games more accessible for everyone.

Additionally, subscribers will automatically be included in beta access and early access programs for upcoming titles, including Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Breakpoint closed beta on September 5, and Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Breakpoint Ultimate Edition on October 1—three days before the game’s global launch.
