The FBR sets up a booth at 19th ITCN Asia, in Expo Center Karachi

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has set up a stall for the first time in Asia’s biggest-ever IT and Business Exhibition to encourage entrepreneurs and investors by spreading awareness about the ease of doing business and remove misconceptions about the tax system and the fears related to TAX collection bodies in Pakistan.

After its debut in 2001, Largest annual IT event ITCN Asia is now going to held for the 19th time. The event will be held in Karachi’s Expo Center for 3 days from September 17 to 19.

Officials from the FBR disclosed that the authority has maintained a stall at the 19th ITCN Asia at the Karachi Expo Centre. Chief Commissioner Inland Revenue (CCIR) Regional Tax Office (RTO)-II Karachi said officers had been assigned for demonstration at the booth.

“The officers will inform the public regarding the measures taken by the FBR to improve the ease of doing business and dispel commonly perceived misconceptions regarding the working of the FBR,” he said.

According to the sources, the officers assigned at the stall would also help people acknowledge the latest initiatives of the revenue body, including “Tax Assan” software, a software that enables people to get sales tax registration and easy way to check the status of the Active Taxpayers List (ATL) using their smartphones. Further, this software also allows salaried persons to file their income tax returns through easy steps.

With the help of the “Tax Assan” App, the customers would automatically be informed about the sales tax deduction by FBR, including the facility to know about registered shops and brands.

Back in August, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) also set the target to mount Sales Tax Registration (STN) up to 400,000 people in the next three years to eventually boost revenue collection and documentation of economy.
