The holidays of the Eid ul Azha are over and the movies: Superstar, Parey Hut Love and Heer Maan Jaa are in their second weeks trying to add more to their total tally. Now, while all three movies had a nice first five days, in the next six days they began to lose momentum, and as indicated in the past box office report, the movies required to sustain better in order to remain on the course of being hits.
The films ‘ second weekend has gone well, but when we consider the fact that collections were not that big in the first 11 days, the levels maintained do not look quite spectacular. All the films had an opening week with a huge number of shows, but the collections take quite a while to catch up to the level of business done during Eid ul Azha 2017, forget to get close to the massive numbers of Eid ul Azha 2018.
In addition, Parey Hut Love and Superstar have been going neck to neck at the box office for a previous couple of days, but after the second weekend, Parey Hut Love has somewhat moved past Superstar’s collections. Here is the breakdown in detail:
Parey Hut Love
The film’s collections on the first post-Eid weekdays had dropped quite a bit as from Monday to Thursday they were just 1.6 crores. However, the second weekend showed some nice profits as the film picked up a nice 2 crores 10 lacs in 3 days. This showed a 60 percent drop from the first weekend that is not a bad feat, but the film continues on reduced levels again. This took the movies a total of 14 days to 17 crores 10 lacs, which is a good respectable amount.
One interesting thing is that if the movie can capitalize on the audience at the weekend, it will have another good upcoming weekend as no big movie will come out, allowing the movie to do good business in the long run. For Parey Hut Love, good business in the coming days is very important as the film runs on a large budget.
Eid Holidays ( Monday- Thursday ): 8.4 crore
Extended Eid Weekend ( Fri- Sun): 5 crore
Weekdays ( Monday- Thursday): 1.6 crore
11 Day Extended Week 1: 15 crore
Second Weekend ( Friday- Sunday): 2.1 crore
TOTAL: 17.10 crore
Superstar
As reported in the previous box office report, Superstar went neck-to-neck in the first 11 days as the total of this film was also 15 crores but it raked in about 2 crores on the second weekend and now this film is a tad bit behind Parey Hut Love. Superstar currently stands at a cumulative sum of 17 crores, the largest ever collection for a Mahira Khan star on the brighter side, beating her former best Ho Mann Jahaan.
Superstar could have maintained better numbers but the collections here arent alarming, because the budget is not as high as Parey Hut Love. The film, however, has the potential to improve by sustaining better in the coming days and taking the lifetime run above the 20 crore mark.
Eid Holidays ( Monday- Thursday): 8.20 crore
Extended Eid Weekend ( Friday- Sunday): 5 crore
Weekdays ( Monday- Thursday): 1.8 crore
11 Day Extended Week 1: 15 crore
Second Weekend ( Friday- Sunday): 2 crore
TOTAL: 17 crore
Heer Maan Ja
Heer Maan Ja was always choice number three for the audiences but it still did decent business. The movie hadn’t held quite well post the Eid festivities and the second weekend was no different. he movie has taken its 14 day total to 6.5 crores approximately which is a decent number for the film.
Eid Holidays ( Monday- Thursday): 3.8 crore
Extended Eid Weekend ( Friday- Sunday): 1.3 crore
Weekdays ( Monday- Thursday): 0.68 crore
11 Day Extended Week 1: 5.78 crore
Second Weekend: 73 lacs approximately
TOTAL:6.50 crore
The month of Muharram starts from the upcoming weekend on Sunday, during which many cinema-goers avoid watching movies. This will not be great news for the movies as they have relatively done better on weekends. However, we do hope that the collections continue coming in the month. The coming five days will be vital for the lifetime run of these movies.
