The latest release of Sonakshi Sinha’s film Khandaani Shafakhana is already on its way out of most of India’s cinemas. Yes, the film arrived on Friday in the cinema halls, but at the Indian box office it failed to create any kind of effect.
During morning shows on Friday, the comedy drama opened to about 5 percent occupancy and ended up raking in about Rs 75 lakh by the end of the first day. The situation was almost the same on Saturday, too, as the film witnessed any significant growth at the ticket windows in India. This implies that from Monday onwards, Sona’s second outing of the year will have no shows at most theaters.
According to the Boxofficeindia.com trade portal, on Saturday Khandaani Shafakhana gathered around Rs 85 lakh, bringing its complete collection of two days to Rs 1.60 crore, which is, to say the least, very disappointing.
Talking about the film’s performance, trade analyst Sumit Kadel yesterday even wrote on his Twitter timeline, “#KhandaaniShafakhana & #JudgementallHaiKya shows are getting cancelled left right & center today because of no audience, where #FastandFuriousHobbsandShaw witnesses 30% growth, #Super30 almost 100% growth compared to yesterday.”
Also Kangana Ranaut and Rajkummar Rao starrer film Judgementall Hai Kyahas completed 9 days at the ticket windows and it has still not able to touch the Rs 50 crore mark at the box office. The movie which released on July 26 has managed to rake in a total of approx Rs 33.02 crore as per a report on BusinessToday.

Khandaani Shafakhana wasn’t a solo release as the Hollywood action flick Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw also hit the screens yesterday. Unlike Sonakshi starrer, the film by Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham had a flying start at the domestic box office as it took a double-digit opening on Friday and became the year’s second-highest Hollywood opener after Avengers: Endgame.
