The Lion King after it’s early release in China and presales in the U.S
Disney’s upcoming reboot of “The Lion King” is not getting much affection from the critics, but that is impossible to refrain it from attracting the audience to the theater.
The movie is an action remake of the 1994 animated movie from the director Jon Favreau, got a 59% critic score on the Rotten Tomatoes. But “The Lion King” is still expected to be a box-office hit when it opens next weekend in the US.
Aladdin, another recent Disney reboot, has earned over $900 million worldwide but most recently had a 57% Rotten Tomatoes critic score.
The Lion King is already surpassing Aladdin in ticket sales in the U.S and also overcoming 2017’s “Beauty and the Beast.” The movie’s ticket service company Fandango revealed last month that “The Lion King” had the highest number of first-day pre-bookings among any other Disney movie, excluding Marvel or Star Wars. According to Fandango, “The Lion King” is on track of becoming the 2019’s second biggest pre-seller so far, following Avengers: Endgame.
The Lion King released earlier in China on Friday, and it earned $13.4 million on its first day. The Chinese ticket selling company Maoyan is predicted that the movie will no doubt climb over $170 million earning, letting it win the title of highest grossing Disney remake in China.
The Lion King used the photorealistic computer-generated animation that was also used in 2016’s blockbuster The Jungle Book, which hit around $1 billion worldwide at the box office.
The Lion King is a technological remake, full of mind-blowing visual effects as you will be amazed for how realistic all the animals appear in the movie. The looks of this movie are so sharp and stunning, it feels as if you’re watching a nature documentary. It will surely climb up to become a huge money-builder for Disney.
