Drainage system failed once again as heavy downpour continues in Karachi

drainage system gets failed due to heavy downpour in karachi

The heavy spell of rain in Karachi has made life a nightmare for its citizens because of frequent power breakdowns, traffic jams, and blockade of roads due to poor drainage system.

As predicted by the Pakistan Meteorological Department, heavy to moderate rain continued to hit several parts of Karachi on Tuesday.

Once again, the drainage system failed badly to handle water and has left major thorough routes of the city in a shabby condition with pits and potholes. The prevailing monsoon season has left the city dilapidated.

The accumulated rainwater has mixed with sewerage water, causing filth and dirt. The pedestrians have to trudge through this dirty stagnant water. Diseases are also spreading due to this.

Officials are not paying attention to this serious issue. They are rather saying that there is no proper drainage system, and hence the water gets mixed with sewerage one.  According to them, this problem won’t get a solution until these two systems get separated.

Meanwhile, the claims of government officials and local authorities have crumbled down as damage caused by the rain can be seen in many parts of the city.

Moreover, the chief meteorological officer of Sindh, Syed Sarfaraz, has said that showers will continue in Karachi until 30 September.
