The Chinese tech-giant was responding to a accusation made by the US Department of Justice for the alleged theft of smartphone camera patents from Portuguese inventor Rui Pedro Oliveira.

In a media briefing, Huawei responded as it ”categorically rejects” the claims and accused Mr Oliveira of “taking advantage of the current geopolitical situation” in an attempt to pull money from the company.

Huawei is clutched in the on-going and continuously growing trade war between Washington and Beijing as The US is against every country willing to purchase Huawei’s 5G technology. For the US, it means maintaining the technological and economic dominance it developed with its 4G wireless technology. But for China, it’s an opportunity to surpass the US ownership of being a superpower to rise as the economic and geopolitical superpower.

Huawei relates these recent accusations with the other hurdles used by US to make China refrain from doing business with the World.

“For the past several months, the US government has been leveraging its political and diplomatic influence to lobby other governments to ban Huawei equipment,” the Huawei’s statement read. “Furthermore, it has been using every tool at its disposal, including both judicial and administrative powers, as well as a host of other unscrupulous means, to disrupt the normal business operations of Huawei and its partners,” it further stated.

The US allegedly denied visas to Huawei workers, detained shipments at ports.

The US is also accused of launching cyber attacks against Huawei by infiltrating the firm’s top secret operations and internal communication systems.

“We strongly condemn the malign, concerted efforts by the US government to discredit Huawei and curb its leadership position in the industry,” Huawei’s statement added.
