Chris Sutton thinks that Frank Lampard could lose the Chelsea fans’ support and his place as this season’s manager unless he succeeds in what is a ‘hell of a job.’

In challenging conditions, Lampard took over from Maurizio Sarri this summer, working under a Chris Sutton says that Frank Lampard might lose the support of Chelsea Fans transfer ban and following star player Eden Hazard’s departure to Real Madrid.

The new boss got off to a nightmare start in the Premier League, losing 4-0 on the season’s opening weekend to Manchester United as his youthful side was torn apart on the counter attack.

Former Blues striker Sutton believes that the loss of Hazard can not be ignored as a huge negative for Chelsea, and unless Lampard can find some decent results in the near future, both fans and employers will turn on him.

Sutton told BBC Radio 5 Live’s Monday Night Club that it is like going into an Olympic rowing final and being asked to compete in a dinghy, and you’ve lost your Steve Redgrave.

‘Frank Lampard has one hell of a job on after the club lost their best player. Hazard carried them for years but he’s gone and they can’t bring players in.

‘It all comes down to what the owner’s expectation is and what Lampard has been told at the start of the season. The fans being behind Lampard will only last for so long.

‘This is the first season under Abramovich that I don’t think anybody gives them a chance of winning the title.

‘The obvious thing is Lampard needs time but this is an owner who hasn’t given his managers time – if Chelsea finish eighth or ninth or 10th, Lampard won’t be there next season.’
