A startup based in Lahore, Pakistan has raised the largest ever seed round of about $2.2 million by a ride hailing startup called “Airlift” for public transport.
Airlift plans to extend its public transport service to Bangladesh and Kenya after securing $2.2 million of investment led by Fatima Group, China’s Gobi Ventures, and Indus Valley Capital.
Airlift, established by Awaab Khaakwany, Meher Farrukh, Muhammad Owais, Zohaib Ali, Usman Gul and Ahmed Ayub, is the fast, safe and daily community transport.
Airlift labels itself as an alternative to Uber, Careem and public transportation, enabling customers to book rides on high-quality air-conditioned buses and vans with set paths, stops and times, in Lahore and Karachi.
Users can reserve their seats by selecting their pick-up and drop-out locations or browsing the routes after signing up and logging in. For both android and iOS users, the mobile application of Airlift is accessible.
The application enables customers to monitor buses in real time and make payments using credit or debit cards as well. It also makes it easier for the customer to opt for money payment when they board the bus.
Airlift CEO, Usman Gul stated that “Airlift reduces both commute time and cost. Airlift’s proprietary dynamic stops technology lies at the heart of our marketplace.”
