It’s been over a year since spectators caught up in 13 Reasons Why with the kids of Liberty High, but finally, the wait is over. Together with some other big news, the Netflix show revealed its Season 3 return date and trailer on Thursday.
The series, wrapped in controversy since its debut in 2017, recently edited the notorious suicide sequence of Hannah film featuring star Katherine Langford. But even with the highly debated discussion about the impact of the show on spectators, Netflix has announced that for a fourth and final season the show will be renewed. All this before the launch of Season 3 on Friday 23 August.
As fans of the show may recall, when Tyler (Devin Druid) was stopped just moments before joining a school dance with the intention of opening fire on his colleagues, Season 2 ended on a little cliffhanger. However, rather than discussing this particular storyline, the newly released trailer teases an entirely new mystery that could very well be murder.
With one less classmate, Clay (Dylan Minnette) and friends are back as the teaser kicks off with police tape. “Deputy Standall, here’s the thing about Liberty High kids, they’re linked through their secrets,” a voice in the trailer addresses viewers. “Connected and forever changed. The truth is, given the right circumstances, the right motivation, anyone could have done this.”
In the twisty scenes shown, all indications lead to murder— so who’s dead? The least liked jock of Liberty High — Bryce Walker (Justin Prentice) — appears to be the recent victim of the show. But who has done that? Many of the kids attending his funeral have some motive to kill the renowned rapist.
And while the police may be on their tails, Bryce’s mother, Nora (Brenda Strong) wants to know the truth. “I need to know what happened to my son. If any of you know anything, please say something,” she pleads with the grieving students.
