Did you really think you would be fortunate without clown nightmares to get through another summer? It’s 2017 adaptation was bone-chilling, and now “It Chapter Two” is heading to cinemas this September to catch up 27 years later with the Losers Club. That’s correct— Bill Skarsgård (Pennywise) is back.
In the second part of the classic Stephen King story, fulfilling the commitment at the end of the first film, grown-up versions of Beverly (Jessica Chastain), Bill (James McAvoy), Ben (Jay Ryan), Mike (Isaiah Mustafa), Richie (Bill Hader), Stanley (Andy Bean), and Eddie (James Ransone) return to their home town of Derry. They hear that their nightmares ‘ clown has once again appeared from the sewers to frighten the city— and he’s not pleased that the Losers Club kept him waiting.
“For 27 years I dreamt of you,” he says in the newest trailer. “I craved you. I missed you.”
If there are more haunting words than those, then you would not want to hear them. And, hopefully, this time the grown-ups can put a stop to the monster for good.
While King’s original 1986 novel jumped between eras, the story was divided into two by the films. The sequel is supposed to close the saga— but who knows if Warner Brothers will offer the Big Little Lies treatment to the franchise and maintain going past the source material.
