Rebellions in North Waziristan

North Waziristan, Pakistan: During a protest in North Waziristan, supporters of Pashtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM) allegedly assaulted the army check post in Boyya. In cross firing, 15 people sustained injuries, including 5 soldiers, and 3 individuals who attacked the post lost their lives.

The statement from Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) says that the aim of the aggression was to use pressure tactics for the acquittal of suspected terrorist’s facilitators under arrest. The mob was led by MNA Ali Wazir and Mohsin Dawar. Ali Wazir along with other 8 men was arrested on spot and curfew was imposed, while Dawar is at large.

The matter started from aerial firing which turned into straight gunshots. However, troops at the check post exercised utmost composure. All the wounded were immediately shifted to the Army Hospital.

DG ISPR added that PTM is being used by some, against state institutions for vested agenda. No one will be allowed to undo the gains of decade’s long national struggle & sacrifices, especially of brave Pakistani tribals. Earlier this month, the DG had warned to take legal actions against the leadership of PTM, as they have been involved in inciting people to revolt against the state.
