Over the past two years, Rihanna may have been quiet on the music front while building her business mogul brand, but in a new interview, she’s assured fans that new music is on the horizon.
Speaking to The New York Times, the artist revealed a few new pieces of information, including confirming once again the long-rumored idea of making a reggae album. She said there’s no album title at the moment, but she hinted at what it might eventually be.
Although the release date of the album remains unclear, the singer joked that it would probably be called “R9,” a name given by her fan base as it would be her ninth album in the studio. “I’m about to call it that probably, ’cause they have haunted me with this ‘R9, R9, when is R9 coming out?’” she said. “How will I accept another name after that’s been burned into my skull?”
Rihanna denied rumors about working with Lady Gaga but said that she is open to collaborating with her. She was also asked if Drake was featured in her album or not, which she denied by saying that she does not see it happening anytime soon.
The Grammy award-winning singer has joined LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton – the world’s largest luxury group to create the new range to be released later this month.
Rihanna is the first woman to create the group’s original brand, while she is also the first woman of color to head up an LVMH fashion house. Fenty marks the first time since Christian Lacroix was formed in 1987 that a new house has been created.
