Samsung Galaxy C5 vs. Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime – Hybrid SIM Slot or The Normal One?

Samsung recently launched some mid-range premium phones. Though they face huge competition from Chinese smartphone companies, yet their C and J series are doing well in the Indian competitive market. In this blog, we will compare Samsung Galaxy C5 and Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime.

Design and Display:

Samsung Galaxy C5 has a full metallic body with a screen size of 5.2 inches. It has the dimensions of 145.9 (H) x 72 (W) x 6.7 (T) mm and weighs 143 grams. It will be available in two colours; gold and pink.  Samsung Galaxy C5 comes with a Full High Definition(FHD) display of 5.2 inches. It has the screen resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels. Samsung Galaxy C5 uses Super AMOLED display and has a pixel density of 424 PPI. The screen to body ratio is 70.8 %.

Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime also has a metallic body with a screen size bigger than that of Samsung Galaxy C5. It has a screen size of 5.5 inches with the dimensions of 151.7 (H) x 75 (W) x 8.0 (T) mm. It is also heavier than Samsung Galaxy C5 and weighs 167 grams. It is available in two colours; gold and black. Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime also comes with a Full High Definition display but with a screen size of 5.5 inches. It also has the same screen resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels. Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime uses TFT display type and has a pixel density of 401 PPI. The screen to body ratio is 73.13 %.

About the appearance, both the devices have the usual Samsung logo on the top. Again, both the devices have the physical home button, which also acts as the fingerprint sensor. The home button has capacitive keys on either side, with back key on right side and menu key on the left. There is also an 8MP front camera in both the devices.

The sides are slightly different. In Samsung Galaxy C5, the power key and hybrid dual SIM tray are located on the right side of the device. The volume key is present on the left side. In Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime, power key is located on the right and volume keys on the left. There is dual SIM tray and micro SD tray on the left side of the device below the volume keys.

Flipping the devices, the back cover is non-removable for both the devices. In Samsung Galaxy C5, there is a 16 MP rear camera whereas in Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime there is a 13 MP camera at the back.

Performance:

Samsung Galaxy C5 uses Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 MSM8952 chipset whereas Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime uses Samsung Exynos 7 Octa 7870 chipset.  Samsung Galaxy C5 has an Octa core, 1.5 GHz processor whereas Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime has 1.6Ghz Octa Core processor. Samsung Galaxy C5 has bigger RAM of 4 GB and Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime has 3 GB RAM. Samsung Galaxy C5 uses Adreno 405 GPU while Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime uses Mali-T830 MP2 GPU.

Software:

Both the devices run on Android Marshmallow (6) with its own TOUCH WIZ UI on top. There are many themes available with which you can modify the appearance of the phone.

Camera and Storage:

Samsung Galaxy C5 comes with a 16MP rear camera with an aperture of f/1.9. There is no Optical Image Stabilization in this device. It comes with a Dual-colour LED Flash and has the maximum image resolution of 4616 x 3464 Pixels. It is capable of recording videos at 1920×1080 @ 30 fps.

Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime comes with a 13 MP rear camera with the same aperture of 1.9 f. This device has CMOS image sensor but lacks Optical Image Stabilization. It uses normal LED flash and has the image resolution of 4128 x 3096 Pixels. It also captures video at same 1920×1080 @ 30 fps.

Both the devices have similar camera features like continuous shooting, HDR, autoflash. They also have similar front camera configuration of 8 MP with no LED flash.

For storage, Samsung Galaxy C5 has internal memory of 32 GB which can be expanded up to 128 GB. But the SD card slot is a hybrid one. Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime comes with an internal storage of 16 GB which can be expanded up to 256 GB. This device uses a normal SD card slot

Battery and Connectivity:

Samsung Galaxy C5 uses low capacity battery than Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime. Samsung Galaxy C5 has 2600 mAh battery which is non-removable but supports fast charging.  Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime uses 3300 mAh battery which is also non-removable, but it lacks fast charging.

For connectivity in Samsung Galaxy C5, users will get dual SIM slots with only one SIM supporting 4G. Also, it uses a hybrid dual SIM slot. On the other hand, Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime is also a dual SIM device with both the slots supporting 4G. Samsung Galaxy C5 also has NFC. Both the devices have FM Radio.

The Verdict:

Both the devices are good with each having some advantage and some disadvantage. It depends on you what is important for you in the smartphone. Samsung Galaxy C5 has a hybrid SIM slot and lesser battery but gives faster performance. Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime has a bigger battery and normal SIM slot but is slightly slower than C5.

Samsung Galaxy C5 price in India is expected to be Rs22,990 while the Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime costs Rs16,700.
