Taiwanese manufacturer HTC recently generated plenty of oohs and ahhs after it released its latest flagship handset dubbed the HTC One. It’s hands down the best looking Android phone ever designed, and it packs quite a wallop in terms of specs and features. The new release came at a timely manner as HTC struggles to return to greatness in the mobile world after being toppled over by competing makers such as Samsung and Apple. It can also be recalled that HTC CEO Peter Chou famously said he will resign if the One becomes a flop; but chances are he won’t be stepping down anytime soon due to the latest impressive addition to the company’s Android lot.
Beautifully Built
Some reviewers easily tagged it as the most beautiful smartphone ever made (even more stunning than any of the iPhones, they say). The phone measures 137.4 by 68.2 by 9.3 millimeters, which already says a lot considering that it only weighs 143 grams. Based on the specs sheet and the press photos, it’s a unibody unit wrapped in an aluminum-esque backside with speakers sitting above and below its 4.7-inch Corning Gorilla Glass 2 screen. It features a 1080 by 1920 pixel display with a screen density of 469 pixels per inch. There are two buttons below the screen (home and back), with everything on its edges looking sleek and elegant in white accents and trimmings. HTC boasts that the one was made through a “zero-gap” process, meaning the phone was carved out of a single piece of aluminum chassis.
Bold Inside and Outside
Inside this Android behemoth lies a 1.7GHz Quad-core processor with a Qualcomm APQ8064T Snapdragon 600 chipset, plus an Adreno 320 graphics processor. It also contains two gigabytes of RAM and can store either 32 or 64 gigabytes of native storage. On the left side of a device, there’s a micro-SIM card slot, and on the right side, a volume rocker. On top of it is a power button and opposite it is the micro-USB slot for charging. There’s neither a microSD slot nor a removable back panel; but who uses up all 64 gigs on a phone, anyways?
Beast-like Beats and Visuals
The HTC One features a powerful pair of speakers on both the top and bottom of the screen and a built-in amplifier to boot. The audio enhancements are again delivered by the company’s long-time partner, Beats Audio, so a user wouldn’t be so surprised with the stereo-like sound this almost paper-thin handset is able to produce. Meanwhile, media addicts who will use the unit as a personal or business phone (more information) will enjoy its video and image shooting capabilities due to the vibrant Super LCD 3 display that’s able to shoot 1080p high-res photos and videos (among other enticing camera features).
To sum it up, it can’t be argued that HTC really brought their A-game in coming up with the HTC One handset. With its looks alone, this new contender in the race for Android supremacy can probably give its contemporaries like the Samsung Galaxy S4 and the LG Optimus G Pro a run for their money.
