Lt. Gen Faiz Hmaeed becomes the new ISI Head

Lt. Gen Faiz Hameed has been appointed as the new Director General (DG) of Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI). The decision was authorized by the Prime Minister Imran Khan as the former ISI officer became the DG.

Former DG ISI, Lt. Gen Syed Asim Munir Ahmed Shah has now been transferred to Gujranwala as Corps Commander. Despite the usual term of three years, former DG only served for a few months.

Lt. Gen Hameed, who belongs to the Baloch Regiment and has already served in ISI as in-charge of internal security wing. He also served as a Division Commander in Pano Aqil earlier in his career.

Four Maj. Generals were promoted in April to the rank of Lt. Gen, and Lt. Gen. Hameed was one of them. Others were Lt. Gen. Sahir Shamshad Mirza, Lt. Gen. Azhar Abbas and Lt. Gen. Nauman Mehmood.

Additional transfers and appointments include Lt. Gen. Aamir Abbasi as Quarter Master at GHQ (QMG), Lt. Gen. Moazzam Abbas as Engineer in Chief and Lt. Gen Sahir Shamshad Mirza as Adjutant General.
