Minutes of the meeting between Maryam and Bilawal

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari visited Jati Umrah today, on the invitation of Maryam Nawaz to discuss the current political situation and the next action plan.

A senior party leader from both the sides attended the meeting including Qamar Zaman Kaira, Chaudhary Manzoor, Hassan Murtaza, and Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar from Pakistan People’s Party, while Muhammad Zubair, Maryam Aurangzeb, Capt. (R) Safdar, Ayaz Sadiq, Pervaiz Rasheed, and Rana Sanaullah represented Pakistan Muslim League-N. However, President of PML-N Shahbaz Sharif did not attend the meeting which raised doubts.

After the meeting, a press conference was arranged in which Bilwal criticized the latest budget and said, “We view this to be an anti-people budget which is [essentially] a PTIMF budget. We have seen that IMF is deciding who will be our finance minister, our state bank governor and our FBR head. And after that, when the budget was presented we were shocked at how the government had not left a single area which it had not taxed, wherever they found an opportunity, they gave relief to the rich but there was none for the poor,”. He added that they gave a chance to the government to present a people-friendly budget but now they have no other option than to stop this budget from passing from the parliament.

PML-N released the following few points that are considered to be of national importance by both the leader:
– Withdrawal of references against the judges by the Government, as they are based on mala fide intentions
– The struggle for freedom and independence of the judiciary would be continued
– The Speaker of National Assembly, Asad Qaiser should issue ‘Production Orders’ for all the members of the parliaments who are under arrest, and he should also give up his biased attitude

The two mainstream leaders also decided to launch an active struggle against the government who is not the representative of the true mandate of the people as per their opinion. They also blamed NAB for being an Avenger as high-level leadership of both the parties is currently under arrest including Nawaz Sharif, Asif Ali Zardari, and Faryal Talpur.
