Fawad Chaudhry, Minister of Science and Technology, expressed his desire to become Deputy Prime Minister of Pakistan.
The other day, addressing a seminar in Karachi, Fawad said that technology is the only difference between Pakistan, China, Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, and Indonesia. He noted that the science and technology minister is known as deputy prime minister in these nations.
“May our prime minister pay attention to this side but notice has not been taken so far,” he said, as the entire hall echoed with laughter and clapping.
Fawad said that one of the biggest reasons that Pakistan had failed to achieve economic prosperity was that the country seriously lagged behind in technological development.
“Instead of building modern universities, which would promote scientific learning, people in Pakistan are busy investing in madrassas,” he said. “We missed the chances of MIT and Harvard. We cannot make up for the loss by selling tomatoes and potatoes in the future.”
