WhatsApp, used by over 1.5 billion customers worldwide, brings a host of new features almost on a weekly basis. The firm is set to roll out its Android and iOS applications shortly with new features.
The list contains multi-platform support, WhatsApp QR code, Hide Muted Status Updates and much more.Here’s a quick look at some of the features added to the WhatsApp app just recently.
Frequently Forwarded Label:
If your WhatsApp app is up-to-date, then on some of the forwarded messages you might have noticed the “frequently forwarded” label.You can even check whether or not you got this function by sending a message or a file that was forwarded several times before.The messaging app will then alert you with the label “forwarded many times.”
The business claims you can choose to share up to five chats at one moment when you send a message. “The number of times a message has been sent is encrypted from end to end,” added WhatsApp. Notably, the forwarding label will help curb fake news.
Fingerprint Lock Feature:
You will be asked to authenticate your fingerprint stored in the OS if you enable the “Fingerprint Lock” feature in the App’s Privacy section. Notably, after the lock, one may still be able to respond to notifications or receive calls.This is because the function operates only to lock the primary app.
The function comes with three options for “locking” the app automatically.The first one is “immediately,” the second one is “after 1 minute,” the third one is “after 30 minutes.” The function also enables users to allow or disable message context preview in the “New Message” notifications. This function is currently only available in WhatsApp’s beta version.
Playing Consecutive Voice Messages:
WhatsApp also added ‘Consecutive Voice Messages’ playback feature for Android users. In particular, this function was first available on WhatsApp’s iOS version. It enables a user to automatically play consecutive voice messages instead of manually playing a voice message. In addition, no action is needed as the app notifies customers with a sound after the first voice message. The second voice message is played automatically after the sound.
Besides, Facebook just recently released an update for its beta users that adds the “WhatsApp from Facebook” label to the app. “We want to be clearer about the products and services that are part of Facebook,” a spokesperson was quoted as saying. One can check the label in WhatsApp’s Settings section. To recall, the social media giant purchased WhatsApp back in February 2014.
