As per the twitter announcement of Kensington Palace, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge Prince William and Kate Middleton would be visiting Pakistan this autumn. The tweet stated, “The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will undertake an official visit to Pakistan this autumn, at the request of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office. Further details will be advised in due course”
The royal couple would be visiting Pakistan for the first time ever. The last visit from the family was back in 2006 when Prince Charles and Camilla visited the country. Mother of Prince William was warmly welcomed in Pakistan back in 1991 when she came to a memorable visit.
UK High Commissioner also tweeted to respond the big announcement as “#RoyalVisit2Pakistan People of Pakistan cherish & fondly recall visits of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II to Pakistan during 1961 and 1997. Upcoming Royal visit reflects the importance UK attaches to Pakistan. Both countries enjoy historical links & wish to strengthen further. Government & the people of Pakistan warmly welcome the announcement of the @KensingtonRoyal of the Royal visit by TRH The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge to Pakistan this year”
The visit is believed to be of paramount importance as it would be very beneficial for Pakistan to host the distinguished guests to promote diplomatic interaction. The couple is likely to meet Prime Minister Imran Khan in an official capacity. The couple has not traveled together since 18 months and it also not clear yet that the children (Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and baby Prince Louis) will join their parents on the visit or not.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex Prince Harry and Meghan Markel are also set to visit Africa in autumn. They will be visiting Malawi, Angola, Botswana, and other countries. This will be their maiden tour as a family.
