The official fitrana rates for Ramadan 2019 have been announced. The minimum amount set as per the market price of 2.25kg flour is Rs.100.
This is the second consecutive time, that same rate has been set by the Central Ruet-e- Hilal Committee Chairman Mufti Munib-ur-Rehman.
Muslims who wish to pay fitrana equal to the price of barley, dates, raisins, and cheese should pay Rs.400, Rs.1,600, Rs.1,920 and 2,940 per head, respectively.
Sadqa-e-Fitr, commonly known as ‘Fitrana’ is an obligatory charity for Muslims who possess food in excess of their need. It must be paid any time before Eid prayers. If the person is a breadwinner, he should also pay Sadqa-e-Fitr for his dependents, such as wife, children, dependent relatives or servants. It is to embark gratitude to be able to complete their fasts.
Financially weak relatives, neighbors and poor of the society are eligible for Fitrana. Ideally, it is to be paid as early as possible, to help the needy people celebrate the festivities of Eid.

According to Fiqh-e-Jafria, Fitrana rate has been fixed as per market price of 3 kg wheat, Rs.150. People using a mix of rice and flour should pay Rs.315 and those using only rice as their food should each pay Rs.480 as Fitrana.
