When you take a relaxing trip on a Royal Caribbean cruise from Southampton you probably don’t spend too much time thinking about the computer infrastructure which is used onboard. Even if you take your own laptop with you to take adv
antage of the vessel’s Wi-Fi capabilities then it doesn’t matter whether you take a Mac or some other type of machine.
However, you may be interested to know that the cruise line uses a Mac based infrastructure on all of its ships. The move to this system began back in 2006 and Macs now drive the custom messaging, personalised fitness room services, reservation systems and a lot more.
Like all of the major cruise lines, Royal Caribbean is always on the lookout for new technology to make the passengers more comfortable on the cruises they offer. It looks like though the existing Mac infrastructure is here to stay and that any future upgrades will be based around this.

You still get to lounge round a pool sipping cocktails as you sail from one lovely port to another. However, it is now a slicker, more modern system which drives the customer experience.
