India gets out of control yet again and violated the ceasefire agreement on LoC (Line of Control) on Wednesday which caused deaths of three civilians in different villages in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).
DG ISPR (Inter-Services Public Relations) Maj. Gen. Asif Ghafoor tweeted on the sad event as, “Increased Indian Cease Fire Violations (CFVs) indicate their frustration due to failure in IOJ&K. CFVs are being & shall always be effectively responded. Pak Army shall take all measures to protect innocent civilians along LOC from Indian firing deliberately targeting them.”
Indian troops used mortar shells on civilians in Katha Chogali village of Chilyana, Neelum valley Nauseri sector of Muzaffarabad district and Leepa valley of district Hattian Bala. The troops targeted multiple pockets in which dozens of civilians were injured. During the shelling, one mortar fell near the composite dam of Neelum-Jhelum Hydropower Project (NJHP), but fortunately, no damage was sustained. However a police constable was injured, and 50 Chinese Nationals working on the project were safely evacuated.
While Pakistan Army responded to the situation adequately on the border, the Foreign Office also took action and summoned Indian Acting Deputy High Commissioner Gaurav Ahluwalia to lodge a protest against unprovoked firing by Indian troops. The official press release by the office said that “The deliberate targeting of civilian populated areas is indeed deplorable and contrary to human dignity, international human rights, and humanitarian laws. This unprecedented escalation in ceasefire violations by India is continuing from the year 2017 when the Indian forces committed 1970 ceasefire violations,”
Spokesperson of the Foreign Office and Director-General of SA (South Asia) and SAARC (South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation) Dr. Muhammad Faisal said that India must respect the mutual agreement related to the ceasefire and maintain peace along the Line of Control.
