The main guest of honor was Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan. It was indeed a moment of pride for Pakistanis all over the world.
The Prime Minister who is also a former cricketer along with some members of his cabinet received a gigantic welcome as he appeared before the massive crowd. Imran Khan and his peers flew to America on a commercial instead of a Chartered flight.
The Capital One Arena has an official capacity of 20,000 seats. Tweeps point out that thousands more were sitting on the playing field. “You see Pakistani Americans ‘ biggest meeting in history,” says a Pakistani American on the scene.
The prime minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan will hold discussions with Donald Trump and reboot bilateral relations after the President publicly criticized Islamabad, canceled military assistance, and requested to do more to combat terrorism.
On Monday, 66-year-old Imran is scheduled to meet Trump in the White House where US leaders will probably press him to take “decisive and irreversible” measures against Pakistani terrorist and militant organizations and promote peace talks with Taliban.
Imran will also meet IMF CEO David Lipton, and World Bank President David Malpass during his three-day visit in addition to his meetings with Trump. On Tuesday, State Secretary Mike Pompeo will call him. The cricketer-turned-politician went to the residence of Pakistani Ambassador to the United States, Asad Majeed Khan, on Saturday evening.
His foreign minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi greeted him at the airport. He was also greeted by a big amount of Pakistani Americans. In an official trip in October 2015, Nawaz Shareef was Pakistan’s last Prime Minister visiting the USA.
