PM Imran Khan, along with COAS Gen. Bajwa and Ex CJP Justice (R) Saqib Nisar attended the groundbreaking ceremony of Mohmand Dam on 02 May 2019. Federal Minister for Water Resources Faisal Vawda also attended and addressed the ceremony, thanking PM for the confidence in his team.
The much-awaited inauguration ceremony was scheduled in January 2019 but got unfortunately delayed due to reported biased contract award to Descon.
The Mohmand Dam is being constructed on the Swat River for a total cost of Rs.183 billion. The dam will be completed by 2024 and will store 1.2 million acre-feet of water. It will also add 800MW to national electric production.
Fund Raising for Diamer-Bhasha and Mohmand Dam which started in July 2018 has now a current balance of Rs.10.41 billion
