Life-threatening Heatwave to bake United Kingdom again this weekend

The heatwave that baked entire Europe in June and July is returning back, off the coast of Spain and Portugal, that will move towards the Republic of Ireland and Devon before settling across Britain in time for this weekend triggering a life-threatening event by raising temperatures up to 30 degrees Celsius and higher.

The recent glorious sunshine in England comes with a dire warning to life from the National Health Service (NHS), which was issued as Britain faced some of its hottest days on record last month.

Medics have urged the public to be extra aware of the risk of heatstroke, particularly with young babies and the elderly. Especially, those having heart issues are at higher risk.

Ruth May, a chief nursing officer for England said, “Everyone can take simple steps to avoid fun in the sun turning in to a holiday in the hospital. As millions of families kick off the long summer break, it’s really important to take common-sense precautions and follow our NHS top tips like drinking plenty of water, using high-factor sunscreen and taking allergy medicine where it’s needed.”

“The NHS will be there always for anyone who needs it, but everyone can help by checking in on vulnerable friends and neighbors, while making use of the free, convenient and helpful phone and online NHS services for minor illnesses, to help frontline staff provide care for those in emergency and serious need,” she added.

“People should talk before they walk and join the hundreds of thousands getting fast and free advice on the best course of action for them from the NHS.uk website or 111 phone line,” she stressed.

Britians are adviced to shut windows down, during extremely hot weather, avoid the sun, have cool baths and avoid excess alcohol, instead consume lots of water.

The high temperatures and lack of winds increase the risk of wildfires, adding further danger to the heatwave.
