The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has claimed a major development in the fake accounts case against former president Asif Ali Zardari and his sister Faryal Talpur, including several others.

Sources have confirmed that the Dubai resident and member of Summit Bank Board of Directors Nasser Abdulla Lootah has agreed to become a witness in the case.

Dubai based trader Naseer Abdulla Lootah from the family who founded Dubai Islamic Bank had become a prosecution witness, who claimed that the Sharif family members had met him to hand him over $500,000 for investment, which, they later got back.

The pieces of evidence he provided are enough to drown Zardari, Shareef family, and Omni Group, as reported by Kamran Khan.

Further, after agreeing to become a witness, the arrest warrant for Nasser Abdullah Lootah has been halted for now. Earlier, an accountability court extended the judicial remand of Asif Ali Zardari and Faryal Talpur till September 5 in the money laundering and fake bank accounts case.

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) is investigating more than 30 people regarding money laundering from fictitious accounts of “Chai Wala” and “Rehrri Wala”, including Zardari and his sister Faryal. Zardari’s close friend Hussain Lawai was also arrested on July 2018 for having mutual connections with these people

Zardari’s other crime partner and Omni Group chairman Anwar Majeed and his son, Abdul Ghani, were arrested by FIA on August 2018.

Several fictitious ‘Benami’ accounts at multiple private banks were opened in 2013, 2014 and 2015 from where hidden transactions of billions of rupees were made, according to sources. The amount, according to FIA sources, is said to be black money gathered after looting the national treasury, including bribes.

The pieces of evidence he provided are enough to drown Zardari, Shareef family, and Omni Group, as reported by Kamran Khan.
