Pak Railways to increase fares from Jul 1

Minister for Railways Sheikh Rasheed has announced that the railway fares are likely to be raised by Jul 1. The announcement of the decision was made in a press conference in Lahore. He further said that the increment would be 6% to 7% (up to Rs.100).

He explained that the department had to bear an additional cost due to the increased prices of oil in the international market. Thus, this price increment was inevitable. However, there would be no change in fare for traveling less than 50 km.

Talking about the most awaited ML-1 project, he commented that PC-1 of the Main Line (ML-1) has already been submitted. Further, the Chinese were asked to build new apartments for the employees of Pak Railways that would accommodate over 70,000 employees that are currently working on the project.

He said that Prime Minister Imran Khan would before long initiate Sir Syed Express at Rawalpindi Railway Station. Further, as per the instructions of Prime Minister Imran Khan, Sargodha Express would be reached out to Mianwali through Lahore inside one month. Three new cargo trains would likewise be begun to improve the revenue collection.
