Murad Saeed and Dr. Awan bashed opposition over lavish lifestyle on government’s expense

Special Assistant to PM for Information and Broadcasting Dr. Firdaus Ashiq Awan and Minister for Communications and Postal Services Murad Saeed bashed the former rulers of the country for enjoying lavish style and amenities on government’s expenditure.

Saeed said that the national exchequer was looted and funds were recklessly spent on the entertainment, security, and settings of camp offices of the public officeholders. He gave a contrast of the lavish style by giving an example of Thar, where 500 infants die every year due to hunger. The mentioned that the constituency of the Chief Minister and other rural areas of Sindh which are believed to be pro PPP do not have basic necessities of life.

Commenting on the lifestyles of former public office holders he said, “We will begin with Yousuf Raza Gillani. He had five camp offices, three in Lahore and two in Multan and he spent 245 million rupees on these. We then move on to Zardari, who has proved very bhari for the nation. His two camp offices — one in Larkana where he has a house, and one in Naudero — as well as his security arrangements,  resulted in the wastage of over 3.164 billion rupees of taxpayers’ money over 2013-2018 when he was not even president of the country.”

He further gave details of PML-N leaders, claiming that former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif spent over 4.32 billion rupees for medical and camp office expenses. He wasted 460,000 USD on a single US trip in 2015. His brother and former Chief Minister of Punjab Shehbaz Sharif wasted 8.73 billion rupees and another frontline leader Shahid Khaqan Abbasi also joined the club with his 350 million rupees.

Saeed provided a detailed account of spending from the national exchequer to accommodate the luxurious lifestyle of the former rulers, he also mentioned the cost-cutting measure taken by the PTI government and presented facts and figures of the decreased expenses of the new government. He added that the state has decided to recover the losses of billions of rupees from the prior heads of state.
