Federal Tax Ombudsman Mustaq Sukhera dismissed by the Government

Mushtaq Sukhera was dismissed from his post of Federal Tax Ombudsman after the relevant notification by the Law Ministry was approved by President Arif Alvi on Thursday.

He was serving as the ombudsman since August 2017. Before this appointment, he was Inspector General of Police in Punjab.

The decision was made after filing of reference against him by the government. Earlier, he was nominated in a private complaint filed by the Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) with reference to Model Town case. After which the Anti-Terrorist Court (ATC) framed charges against him in 2018.

The vacant position is likely to be awarded to Justice (R), Faqeer Hussain.
