AMD has Announced New Affordable Ryzen 3 Processors

For its Ryzen 3000 series, AMD has launched two new desktop CPUs, which fall into the low-end range. Based on the Zen 2 architecture, the latest Ryzen 3 3100 and Ryzen 3 3300X CPUs will launch at no more than $100.

Both chips consist of 4 core, 8 SMT, 65W TDP, and 18 MB cache (L2 + L3) thread processors. AMD says that these processors will provide the multitasking capabilities of preceding generations twice.

The difference in clock speeds between the two processors is that the Ryzen 3100 has a base clock of 3.6GHz and a boost clock of 3.9GHz, while the 3300X has a base clock of 3.8GHz and 4.3GHz. There is, of course, a small price gap. While the 3100 will start at $99, the 3300X will cost $120, which is incredibly fair for both.

On May 21, 2020, the AMD Ryzen 3 3100 and Ryzen 3 3300X are scheduled to arrive on retailers around the world.

In addition, AMD also introduced the next-generation B550 chipset which will replace the current B450 motherboards. The B550 is the only mainstream chipset offering compatibility with PCIe 4.0. The only other motherboards which support this are the more expensive X570 models.

The B550 motherboards will be available for sale on June 16 with AMD’s OEM partners including ASRock, ASUS, Biostar, Colorful, GIGABYTE, and MSI.
