Coronavirus Cases Might Increase Drastically in Pakistan: Health Expert

Coronavirus Cases Might Increase Drastically in Pakistan

Professor Masood Hameed Khan, the former University of Health Sciences vice-chancellor, believes coronavirus is still to peak in the region. He noted that between 26 April and 10 May Pakistan is likely to record more COVID-19 infections and fatalities.

According to him, the virus took 50 to 60 days to demonstrate its effects around the world and added that after 50-60 days after its appearance the number of cases in the USA and Europe increased multifold.

Professor Masood highlighted in a video message that Pakistan registered its first case of the virus on February 26, and has now passed about 50 days. Within the next ten to fifteen days he predicted that the country could see a dramatic spike within COVID-19 fatalities.

He warned the government of the serious situation the virus could pose in the days ahead, suggesting a countrywide lockdown to be strictly enforced.

He also called on the general public to assist the government in fighting coronavirus by maintaining social distance and following guidelines on health.
