Anti-corruption unit on Tuesday detained one accused of running a bogus housing scheme using the name of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari in Karachi.
According to reports, Anti-Corruption East carried out a raid at the office of the Bilawal Bhutto Welfare Housing Society, situated on University Street, and detained the company’s CEO, Zafar Jhandir.
They had carried out a search after getting many reports about the bogus housing system, according to authorities.
The team sold 64 files from the housing scheme shown at Nooriabad. The group is running further schemes which are being prosecuted, according to Anti-Corruption East.
The Sindh government had recently introduced a low-cost housing system for Karachi citizens. The housing project was initiated at Malir Development Authority’s Taiser Town Scheme-45.
The government set the price at Rs80,000 for 80 square-yard plots; at 120,000 for 120 square-yard plots; at 528,000 for 240 square-yard plots; and at Rs1,200,000 for 400 square-yard plots.
