Ariana Grande and Shawn Mendes, Lil Nas X, and Billie Eilish lead the pack of nominees at the MTV Europe Music Awards (EMAs).
Grande has nabbed seven nominations for Best Artist, Best Video and Best Song for ‘thank you, next,’. Shawn Mendes, Lil Nas X, and Billie Eilish follow closely behind her with six nominations each, J Balvin with five, and Lizzo and Taylor Swift each with four.
Grande will also go head-to-head with against Swift, Mendes, Balvin and Miley Cyrus for Best Artist. The Best Song category is also a tight race with Mendes’ collaboration with Camila Cabello on ‘Señorita’ up against ‘Grande’s ‘7 rings’, Eilish’s ‘bad guy’, the Post Malone and Swae Lee’s hit ‘Sunflower’ and the viral smash ‘Old Town Road (Remix) by Lil Nas X.
Lil Nas X is also up for Best New Artist, alongside Eilish, Lizzo, Ava Max, Lewis Capaldi, and Mabel.
The fan category might be the most contentious of all, with the Arianators fans competing with the seismic force of BTS fans.
The MTV EMAs will take place on 3 November at the FIBES Conference and Exhibition Centre in Seville, Spain, and will air live on MTV in nearly 180 countries at 9 pm. CET. Voting is now open until 2 November at 11:59 pm CET.
