Hafeez, Malik dropped out while Shehzad, U Akmal gets in for Sri Lanka series

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced a list of 20 probables for the training camp ahead of the home series against Sri Lanka on Monday.

The Men in Green are prepared to host Sri Lanka for three ODIs and T20Is. The most notable decision is the omission of Mohammad Hafeez and Shoaib Malik.

“Mohammad Hafeez and Shoaib Malik have not been named in the probables as they have been granted NOC until October 12 to participate in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL),” a press release by the cricket board read.

Hafeez represents St Kitts and Nevis Patriots while Shoaib Malik is playing for Guyana Amazon Warriors.

On the other hand, the right-handed opening batsman Ahmed Shehzad and Umar Akmal are among the 20 probable names announced by head coach and chief selector, Misbah, for the training camp, which will start from September 18.

The talented opening batsman Abid Ali and Asif Ali have also made their places in the short-listed players. While the experienced fast bowler, Wahab Riaz, who has recently announced a break from Test cricket, has also been named for the camp.

However, the young pace sensation, Mohammad Hasnain, who has been called back from the Caribbean Premier League is under consideration.

The all-rounder Mohammad Nawaz is also under review for selection.

Sarfaraz Ahmed will lead the side while Babar Azam will be his deputy in both.

Misbah-ul-Haq will announce the squads at the Gaddafi Stadium on September 23.

The ODI series against Sri Lanka will get off the ground from September 27, followed by T20I series from October 5.
