Prepare to get stuck in traffic on the Shahrah-e-Faisal road of Karachi as one part of the road was closed for construction early Thursday morning.
The patch that has been closed (from the traffic light of the Avari Hotel to Mehran Hotel) isn’t really that long, but it’s quite a way up the next turn on the road. No alternative traffic plan has been released by the traffic police, confusing people even more.
On Thursday, the road was closed at 2 am and will stay that way for 48 hours. The track was closed because the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board is repairing its pipelines, according to Traffic SSP Assad Malhi. The board states that the repair work will be completed within 48 hours.
It also claims the pipelines were 65 years old, but this could not be confirmed.
This section was closed for traffic, according to the traffic police, because potholes were formed on Raja Ghazanfar Ali Road. As a 48-inch pipeline sunk, the KWSB must begin the repair job on an urgent basis.
Alternate routes you can use to get on Shahrah-e-Faisal are via Clifton’s Kalapul, Sultanabad, Avari to Fatima Jinnah Road, Cantt check post, Daudpota Road, Mehran Underpass, Bismillah Signal, Lucky Star and Regent Plaza as well as Cantonment Chorangi to School Road, Naval Heights, CSD, and FTC Flyover. People traveling from Clifton towards the airport can turn towards Fawara Chowk and Abdullah Haroon Road to connect to Shahrah-e-Faisal.
