Well-known Indian politician and former Minister of Foreign Affairs Sushma Swaraj has passed away. She was one of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s senior leaders.
Sushma Swaraj, former Foreign Minister and senior leader of the BJP, died on Tuesday. The BJP stalwart was admitted to the New Delhi’s All India Medical Sciences Institute (AIIMS). She had suffered a massive heart attack according to the reports.
In her last post on Twitter she congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the move on Kashmir by the government. The politician also stated that she was waiting her whole lifetime for this day. The 67-year-old BJP veteran was considered to be one of India’s strongest female rulers ever seen.
Swaraj was Foreign Minister of the Union during the 2014-2019 Modi government. The BJP stalwart’s untimely demise certainly left everyone shocked. Many leaders, Bollywood celebrities and sportsmen went to social media to express their shock after receiving the news of her sudden demise.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted, “The demise of Sushma Ji is a personal loss. She will be fondly remembered for everything she has accomplished for India. My thoughts in this very unfortunate hour are with her family, followers and admirers.”
Back in 2016, the former foreign minister had a kidney transplant. She also had to opt out of contesting for health reasons at the Lok Sabha elections previously this year.
Sushma Swaraj is survived by her husband Mr. Swaraj Kaushal and daughter Bansuri.Sushma Swaraj was famous among the masses and was called by the Wall Street Journal as India’s best-loved politician. Her sudden demise marks the end of of a very significant chapter of Indian politics.
