The  song “Old Town Road” by Lil Nas X featuring Billy Ray Cyrus, claims one of the most valuable records in the 60-year history of the Billboard Hot 100 as it spends consecutive 17 weeks at No. 1.

“Road” has now beaten the previous 16-weeks record first attained in 1995-96 by Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men’s “One Sweet Day,” and later matched in 2017 by Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee’s “Despacito,” featuring Justin Bieber.

“Old Town Road” takes its position alongside noteworthy record-setters in Billboard Hot 100 history. Among the most distinguished achievements, The Beatles boasts the most No. 1s (20), while Carey spent the most time at No. 1 (79 weeks) and Chubby Checker’s classic “The Twist” claimed the top spot on the retrospective chart of the Hot 100’s Greatest of All Time on the 60th anniversary of last August.

According to Nielsen Music, as on the Hot 100, “Road” (on Columbia Records) leads the Streaming Songs chart for a 17th week, another record breaking mark, topping the 16-week run of “Despacito.” “Road” rules Streaming Songs with more than 72.5 million U.S. streams, down 16 percent over the week ending July 25. ‘ Road ‘ set the record for the top streaming week (143 million) after its remix arrived on April 5 with Cyrus alone (who was charged on 16 of the 17-week Hot 100 song) and claimed nine of the 11 largest streaming frames to date, including the top three.

A meta-named “Week 17 Version” video of “Road” debuted on July 19 to help its total this week. The clip truncates the official music video of the song, published May 17, by removing  various skits featuring guest cameos from Chris Rock and others.
