Commander in Chief of Russian Ground Forces General Oleg Salyukov called on COAS General Qamar Javed Bajwa on Tuesday to discuss defense cooperation between the two countries and the regional security situation. He also met with Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Mujahid Anwar Khan.
Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa says cooperation between Pakistan and Russia will not only help in improving peace and stability in the region but also help in economic prosperity. He was talking to Commander in Chief Russian Ground Forces Army General Oleg Salyukov, who called on him in Rawalpindi today. General Bajwa said Pakistan does not believe in zero-sum games but rather, integration and cooperation.
Matters related to improved and enhanced security, joint training sessions and measures to further expand joint military ties between the two armies were also discussed during the meeting. The Russian Commander in Chief appreciated Pakistan Army’s professionalism and achievements in the war against terrorism. The world should appreciate more what Pakistan has achieved, he added. He also expressed Russian desire to establish strong and broad-based relations with Pakistan.
The Russian General also laid floral wreath at Yadgar-e-Shuhada and Pakistan Army presented guard of honor to him.
On other hands, Secretary General for National Defense and Security of France Miss Claire Landais called on Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa in Rawalpindi on Tuesday, July 2. During the talk matters of mutual interest including defense and security cooperation and overall regional security, the situation was discussed.
Both sides emphasized the need to increase military level interactions between the two countries to strengthen defense ties. The visiting dignitary also appreciated the role of Pakistan Army in battling the terrorism within the country and for maintaining peace and stability throughout the region.
