Commander in Chief of Russian Ground Forces Gen Oleg Salyukov visited the General Headquarters Rawalpindi and met the Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa. The meeting discussed matters related to enhanced regional security, cooperation in training and to broaden the ties between the two militaries.
Before the meeting, Gen Salyukov visited the martyr memorial “Yadgar-e-Shuhuda” to acknowledge the sacrifice of Pakistan Army on war against terrorism. He also laid a wreath of flowers on the memorial. Guard of Honor was presented to welcome the honorable guest.
Gen Salyukov lauded Pak Army’s efforts and their professionalism and added that the world should appreciate Pakistan more for what we have achieved. COAS Gen Bajwa commented on the event that, “Pakistan believes on bilateral cooperation and better relations”.
French Secretary General for National Defense also met Gen Bajwa today at the GHQ Rawalpindi. Claire Landais emphasized the need to build military level associations between the two nations to support respective safeguard ties. She also acknowledged Pakistan’s stance on counter-terrorism and the efforts for peace maintenance.
Pakistan Army has maintained a very professional and prestigious attitude in the world. Being the sixth largest army, it has achieved immense respect and appreciation around the globe for not only the efforts to fight the war against terrorism inside the country, but also to support the peace initiative worldwide.
