Former Education Minister Punjab offloaded from International Flight

Rana Mashhood was offloaded from an international flight to the US by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) at Allama Iqbal International Airport Lahore. He was barred to travel abroad by the agency as his name is in Exit Control List (ECL). The incident happened later Friday night when he was attempting to fly abroad amid an ongoing investigation against him by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).

After offloading, he was held under custody and NAB was informed about the situation. Despite waiting for hours, no representative from NAB showed at the airport and Mashhood was allowed to go home from the airport.

Former Education and Sports Minister Punjab are under investigation over corruption charges in Punjab Youth Festival. Earlier in October last year, he was suspended from the party over claims that PML-N would take over Punjab in the next two months as an agreement had been done between Shehbaz Sharif and the establishment. Party claimed that it was his personal opinion and formed a three-member committee including Raja Zafarul Haq, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, and Rana Tanveer to investigate the matter.

FIA had already informed NAB that the former provincial minister might attempt to leave the country but no due response was witnessed from the bureau. Mashhood is about to face the court next month in a case corruption case.
