Engineers from Novosibirsk State Technical University (NTSU) have announced to convert domestically produced car Marussia into an electric car. Marussia was a project started by Nikolay Fomenko in 2007. The company went bankrupt in 2014 and seized to exist.
Siberian city Novosibirsk’s design bureau, spektr announced to cooperate in the conversion of Marussia’s sports car Chassis into an electric car. The project has gained approval from the Novosibirsk region’s ministry of industry and trade. The NTSU-Spektr agreement is slated to be signed on 27 May on a hood of a restored Marussia. NST University’s spokesman Alexander Shtang assured that NTSU has necessary technological expertise and resources.
“During the work, [the car’s] internal combustion engine will be replaced with a powerful energy-efficient electric motor, the lithium-ion batteries will be installed and the control system synthesized”, the press service of NTSU said, adding that “it will take a year and a half” to wrap up the work.
Marussia’s official representative Vip-Service will provide technological support. Vip-Service company was a collaborator of Marussia from 2011-2014.
