The environment we work in has a great impact on the way we feel: we can get a headache just by walking into our office, but that space can also make us more productive and content. Less is more
A minimalist aesthetic offers so much: you can make your office look chic and inviting without covering every available space with trinkets. Clutter in your office will make you feel stressed and overwhelmed, but if you keep it clutter-free and neat, not only will it look more spacious, but you will feel calmer at the same time. Use drawer dividers and bring in more shelves to help you get rid of clutter and become more organized.
Go color crazy
Who wants to work in a room with plain, white walls and bare shelves? Colors can really make you productive, so don’t hesitate to bring in colorful details which will brighten up the place. Blue hues can make you feel calmer while at the same time stimulate the mind, while yellow-ish tones inspire creativity. Green is generally considered a calming color, so try bringing in a couple of potted plants and keeping them on your desk in vibrant red or orange pots. Watch your back
It can’t be stressed enough how important it is to have a table and chair that actually fit you. If they don’t suit you, you will spend a lot of time moving around and stretching, and trying to find a comfortable position will mess with your concentration and productivity. This is why having ergonomic office furniture is important, as well as keeping good posture. Slightly reclined chair posture will lessen any lower back pain you have because it will reduce pressure on your spine. Use adjustable chairs and add pillows for your lower back to feel more comfortable.
Let the sunshine in
When you’re working with low light, you strain your eyes a lot, and it can result in headaches. Making your office lighter is great for reducing eye strain as well as for boosting your energy levels. If you have a window that allows natural light to flow in, don’t use heavy window treatments, but opt for sheer and breezy ones instead. Also, it would be a good idea to move your desk as close to the window as possible so you can get plenty of natural light every day. LED lights are also great, so try using them in your office lamps if possible.
Soothing smells
You shouldn’t neglect your sense of smell, even if you think that it’s not important in the office. Use scented candles or air fresheners with peppermint or citrusy scents to feel energized and refreshed every day. If scented candles aren’t an option, you can try essential oil diffusers instead.
